TEXAS BURNING DEBUT CONCERT

WINS PLATINUM REMI AWARD FOR BEST MUSIC VIDEO

AT WORLDFEST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

January Concert in San Antonio Honored Wounded Troops

Houston, TX— The debut presentation of Texas Burning, a new televised concert series originating from San Antonio, has been honored by Houston’s WorldFest International Film Festival.  “A Lone Star Salute to Our Troops,” featured a variety of musical genres from a diverse and talented lineup of some rising stars of the Texas music scene. The concert was broadcast live on the Texas Burning website and recorded in HD 1080i. The concert originated from the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre on January 27, 2007, two days before the grand opening of the Center for the Intrepid, the state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility at Brooke Army Medical Center for military personnel catastrophically disabled in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The concert video received a “Platinum Remi Award” as “Best Music Video-Shows/Specials.”  Rampant Entertainment’s Anthony Cutrona, Executive Producer of the Texas Burning concert series and award winning Producer/Director John Frazier of Rollin’ Films were the recipients of the honor at the 40th Annual  WorldFest International Film Festival’s Grand Awards Gala on April 28, 2007.  “The live concert, Texas Burning, was a truly magical moment with some incredible performances.  Equally our production crew performed to give it their all to record this performance.  It's a true honor to have been part of it all and have received such high honors from WorldFest,." said Frazier. WorldFest is one of the oldest and largest film & video competitions in the world, with more than 4,500 category entries received from 37 countries in 2006.

Those artists included Latin-flavored rocker Patricia Vonne, a native of San Antonio; New Orleans roots-rock singer-songwriter Shannon McNally; Austin’s folk-gospel-blues singer Ruthie Foster; guitar goddess Carolyn Wonderland, a Houston-native who calls Austin home; internationally renowned Houston blues-man Sherman Robertson; New Orleans’ favorite singer-violinist, Theresa Andersson; and Austin poetic songster Sam Baker.  The concert video can be viewed free at TexasBurning.com.

Rampant Entertainment donated 400 tickets to BAMC and to the other military bases in the San Antonio area. Also, those who made donations to Operation Homefront received tickets to the show.  The troops and family members that attended the concert enjoyed a wide-range of musical styles, including a Spanish song by Vonne, with her sister, Elizabeth Rodriquez, dancing flamenco with her.  There were a number of duets, artist collaborations and a closing song with all musicians together on-stage.

The televised music series looks to showcase 5-6 of the rising stars of Texas music at each concert.  With a mix of talented artists from different genres, music fans not only get to enjoy the bands they are familiar with, they get to discover the true variety of “Texas music.”  Rampant Entertainment hopes to provide artists with another opportunity to share their music with the world. The first concert originating from the Majestic Theatre is scheduled for May 24, the Thursday before Memorial Weekend.  The line-up and ticket information will be announced on May 4, 2007.
